I was shocked and shocked that I was shocked when Dolly Parton died last week. There are some people that just hit you in the feels, she’s just always been there hasn’t she. I’ve seen some great tributes and listened to so many amazing interviews, even though we have family that actively benefit from the Dolly Parton Imagination Library I still am in awe of the legacy Dolly Parton leaves behind.
This month I thought it would be fun to lean into that celebration of working 9-5 in rhinestones and glitter, dancing the night away with your friends and the bittersweet memories..loved this challenge so much! I was so late to The Hating Game, this Sally Thorne novel is just the absolute best haters to lovers.. I can so see these characters tumbling out of bed and pouring themselves a cup of ambition..so much fun!
The latest Sophie Green embraces clothes and really looks at fashion and it’s impact on our mood and the ability frocks can have to transform your day/ year/ life. The Frock Shop is such a delight from page one, I loved it!
I’ve just spent the weekend devouring Big Little Truths, it was so much fun to check back in with Madeline, Celeste, Jane and Bonnie ten years after Perry fell off the balcony…I don’t know how Liane Moriarty does it, but this is fantastic; female friendship, teenagers and aging driving you crazy..Perfection!
I did not appreciate the business behind Dolly Parton, despite having shed tears through Coat of Many Colours, this biography by Martha Ackmann really looks to that incredible business sense that is The Life and Times of Dolly Parton, her ability to make money and build that million dollar empire and legacy; well worth the read, it was incredible.
Verity is such a disturbing novel, and with the movie coming out soon I thought a great opportunity to highlight that ‘I will always love you’ obsession! Colleen Hoover has done something so powerful with these characters (what a bossman) don’t you agree
