I feel I must do a ‘full disclosure’ and let you know I do get to work alongside Sandie on the Northern Beaches Readers Festival, I also feel I do need to point out I am past of the women this novel is dedicated to and the Loder matter in the novel; that’s MY surname!!!!!!!! But if I hadn’t have loved it, I just wouldn’t mention it, and I do feel I judged the novel more harshly because of it; is it even a real book if I have seen the author in PJs? It actually has my name in it..surely that is only for pretend books? But it is real and it is an excellent novel
This is my most favourite Sandie Docker novel ever! I loved every page. It is a beautifully written novel, I could see smell, hear and feel Lyrebird Lake. I felt like I was amongst the most welcoming community, I love when you just know you are in amongst good people. I loved all of the strong female characters, single mother Hannah might be my new role model, but then again I loved sisters Elenor and Maggie so much as well..for such a joy to read novel goodness it tackles some big issues, but no spoilers here!
