I had the highest expectations for The Last Mandarin, and I really started out thinking it was going to be great. Mother daughter together, a drowned boyfriend…I was there, and I’m not even sure what didn’t work except it was all so OTT? I didn’t believe anyone’s character or motivation really? And gosh so many Vivien Leigh jokes..it wasn’t that funny the first time..but I still finished it, but yes yes world is in big trouble, here comes the helicopter, okay he’ll fly it…yes yes…I don’t read a lot of spy stories, so maybe that’s why…but I do read a lot of books; just didn’t seem to connect)
