Anna’s April Recommendations

Ohhh hasn’t it just turned Autumn!!! Hope you are enjoying a book or two under a lap blanket this month!

I just got to read a copy of The Bookbinder of Jericho and honestly it is *chefs kiss* perfection, but if you haven’t read The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams I definitely think you should start there. Its a beautiful novel all about women’s suffrage in the early 1900s, WW1 looming, female friendship and really whose story gets to be told..such a beautiful novel. And then go onto Peggy’s story in The Bookbinder!

Sandie Docker is just an auto buy for me! I slink in and just get comfortable on the first page and know I am going to love the experience. For me they are the whole package. I love the mystery, I love the small town communities, I love the real characters I so quickly come to know and love..they’re all dual timeline plots and all divine, The Cottage at Rosella Cove was my first Sandie Docker novel and definitely one I recommend most often- I love the cafe connection too. They’ll all completely wonderful though! Absolutely love Sandie Docker novels

In March I got to interview Melissa Doyle for the Sutherland Library about her non fiction 15 Seconds of Brave, this is a book that could easily be on everyones bedside table, it is the perfect pick me up for when you are feeling sorry for yourself, when you need some inner strength and when you just need to keep going..it is such a great ‘fireside chat’ with eight incredible Australians. Its so hopeful, so inspiring, so recommended

The House of Then and Now by Jo Dixon is not a war-ish book at all, and I cant think of one Easter scene, but goodness can I recommend you read it in April. It is absolutely my type of crime novel. It’s fantastic; atmospheric, mysterious, character driven, completely page turning! Its got the dual timeline going too, but this book is 1980s/2017s, a missing nineteen year old and a revenge porn sort of crime being investigated.. you’ll love being in Tasmania and it is just so well done!

I completely love Anzac Girl : the war diaries of Alice Ross-King, by Kate Simpson I thought I was buying it for my niece Piper but actually it is one we share, Its perfect for little hands to get an understanding of the dedication of Alice Ross- King, it is also just perfect for all of us to be reminded of the braveness, compassionate and strength of an Australian hero. It’s a beauty.

Have you read this ones? What are are your April Recs?
