Dave and I are just watching the series as I type and I definitely have feels Have you read the book? Are you watching the series? Is the book always better? What do you think?
I have read the novel twice, I sped through it the first time, I think it was actually the book Dave was like ‘you know it’s pretty rude just to sit at the table and read while eating your dinner….I honestly wasn’t even aware, I was so captivated!!!! I got so swept up in the storyline, I could tell you absolutely everything about it! I chose it for two bookclubs even! We did it as a Wondering Women Read and I completely did it as an Daytime Bookclub book…I loved it! It was the novel that introduced me to Taylor Jenkins Reid and I love her like an evangelist! I am a huge fan of her novels, I love everything about them- character, plot and story! For the most part we as a bookclub enjoyed them, there were too much drinking/ drug concerns and I do know 1 lady said she just wasn’t interested…but I think most members enjoyed the read!
I was SO looking forward to the mini series, I made sure we have Amazon, I completely knew when it was coming out, I had snacks. I was completely ready. In hindsight maybe over ready? Maybe my expectations were too high? What do you think?
I’m just not feeling the female friendships like I did on the page, Im not buying that this is a band that have tried so hard to succeed maybe? That they are on the brink of worldwide domination and success? There is just SO much drug taking and on the screen maybe it’s just looking fun rather than being a crutch? I think Camila is a much stronger character in the book, not just because she doesn’t automatically follow Billy to LA, I just saw she as more self assured on the page? Im still listening for my ‘Nico would have bitten line, but Im starting to think it was hasn’t made it and I’m so sorry but the “I am the someone’ line in the book I absolutely saw Daisy being like WTF I am not the muse, rather that the heartbreak I felt on the screen…
I don’t know I know my expectations were really high, I was already looking forward to the movie before I heard it was being made into a series, it just read like a movie in my head! I am a reader rather than a movie buff, I know how to read nuance and what isn’t being said on the page, maybe I’m just seeing the screen adaptation like a rookie?
Is the book just better though? Or is it I’m a better reader than watcher? Have you seen the show? Have you read Daisy Jones and The Six?
