The Invention of Wings

I’m still thinking about this one. There are so many scenes that made a lasting impression. The bath, the belt and bearing witness all had me in tears. This is a beautifully written book. The scenery is just beautiful and the language captures it perfectly. I loved Handful and Sarah. I could feel the friendship and respect throughout the novel. I loved the feathers and the button. I loved the quilting and the little girl who wrote a sentence in the mud. The book is full of love, relationships and people. I really loved learning about the real Sarah Grimke and the slave quilts, as well as Denmark Vesey. I loved this book so much
