Could not have loved this novel more. I could easily be the president of the Sandie Docker fan club. I LOVE her heartfelt, poignant moving novels. For me they’re the whole package; complex real characters, beautifully told page turners of a story. And The Redgum River Retreat is my new favourite. I read this novel so slowly stretching out my enjoyment of it until I just had to know what had happened to Rosalie in 1945..I just loved it. Sarah, Melody, Ryan, Penelope, Edward, Henry..even Pineapple the Possum…I could hug them all so tight!!! This is an incredibly moving story that had me wiping the tears away by page seven (surely a world record?) about the magic of music, the power of trauma, the beauty of friendship…everyone should read it at least once and I’m wondering if it’s too early to start on a reread.. This is such an uplifting novel, full of all the feels
