Hahaha I took a snap on Friday for my socials of my last 3 reads and gosh I was so shocked at how different they all are from one another! You would think I was a gemini!!! A fun bio, a spicy rom com, a heartfelt literary novel…I’ve included the photo here so you can see.
I looked at it and just thought well this is why I have never read the booker shortlist! Maybe I’m just not good with lists?
But actually what I think it is; I’m just a big reader! I do love reading and I think if you are going to read (hopefully) over 100 books a year you kind of do need to keep mixing it up! Imagine if I just read one author, like I know some people do! Back at the shop I had a few people who would check once a week on what new Danielle Steels I had in. I would always try to offer someone else up, but when you have a favourite you have a favourite! But I just wouldn’t be able to do that as a big reader…
I also do have a big chunk of time to read, I’m spending almost 3 quality hours on the train 5 days a week! I don’t actually have to be that selective with my reading (I do completely know how lucky I am!!!) if any of these books hadn’t of worked for me I would just put it down and pick up the next! I am super lucky
I also am so lucky in that I work in a bookshop! So I see a lot of different books, I don’t have to be a crime reader and only know thriller authors, I am completely lucky to be exposed to so many great books and can track so many categories of authors, that literally is my job! So so lucky!!
And I do feel super lucky; I never ever ever want reading to feel like work for me; hahah then it would be the worst paying job ever! I am so lucky to have access to all these different books, I am always going to be able to mood read and be able to read exactly what I feel like reading! I am the luckiest (even if I don’t ever read a complete shortlist)
