I love a historical biography x I cannot believe I have thought so little about the creator of Shakespeare and Company! That shop has always been completely on my bucket list! And know I feel I know Sylvia Beach. I had a bookshop for 13 years so I really appreciated the highs and lows of running a shop, of course I never got to pacify Hemingway, or encourage an up and coming Fitzgerald..but I do know very much that magic of ‘putting the right sentences into the right hands’ and being frayed and exhausted and worried about rising rents…this was such an enjoyable read I feel ready to take on James Joyce even! (Although I will absolutely need a bookclub for that!)
