Anna’s November Recommendations

I’m so excited for Summer! Daylight saving has been so fun already, but I am itching for that summer breeze and to call in to the beach after work and lazy beach days with a book by my side sitting in the shade…ahh summer dreaming is me ( I know it won’t be long before I remember sleepless nights, mosquitos and the humidity, but a person can dream can’t they..)

I am going with a month of beach reads with this month..a beautiful magical book with a giant octopus as a main character, a sea side thriller from Chris Hammer, a moving memoir, the funniest/ most moving account of coming back from a breakdown I have ever read and the funnest romcom! November is going to be a great month!!!

Shelby Van Pelt is the author of the magical realism of a gorgeous novel that is Remarkably Bright Creatures. I adored this novel. It does cover some very serious topics- grief and loneliness for starters, but it is just so remarkable. I adore this novel.

I am a huge Chris Hammer fan, ridiculously over the top character names not withstanding! This novel, Silver was a complete rollercoaster that answered every question that I posed while munching on fish and chips…

For Life by Ailsa Piper is a really special memoir; such beautiful insights into loss of a partner and moving forward…there is so much beautiful reflection on nature and people.. and I just loved it.

I was more than a little hesitant to read Everyone and Everything by Nadine J Cohen, we know from the outset Yael is coming back from a breakdown, it is another novel that really does talk some very serious themes and there should be some definite trigger warnings that need to be given. This is a book all about grief and depression, but also sisterhood, friendship,  and in praise of 50 Shades, smoothies and friendly crabs….I am so glad I read it and I know you will too

Just for the Summer was as fun as the cover suggests it will be! Super summery, super rom com..I have got to read more Abby Jimenez! A 4 date plan to break a curse and comes with an exit survey? I am there!!! But it also does explore some serious themes too.. it comes with its own trigger warning in the first couple of pages!!

Happy Reading!!!
