City of Girls

All the clothes!!! All the debauchery!!! I loved it despite really not liking any of the characters for well over half the novel…when we meet Vivian she is beautiful, rich, entitled, frivolous and vain, but bless her she’s not pretending to be anything she isn’t. We watch her come of age and really are with her for the rest of her life..It’s a novel very much about female sexuality, female friendship and connection, class and choice. But it also a beautiful love letter to New York, “a city with a million centres”
