While Paris Slept

This was such a great historical fiction novel. I can’t even begin to put myself into the French citizens shoes. It must have been so horrifying to have your city taken. It must have been so surreal to keep living and working through occupation. This book really got me thinking about the sense of collaboration and guilt because they had to live and work with the enemy. That guilt associated with living at all when there was so much death and destruction around you. I also really appreciated that starting over in a new land and starting from nothing again. Sam was just such a sweetheart. My heart was wrung with the dilemma of Charlotte and Jean- Luc x Sarah and David’s story was just heartbreaking. It’s such a great novel
