The Henna Artist

Could not love this book more. I was completely there for the armchair travel to India in 1955/6. I loved the strong, determined, disciplined, organised and efficient Lakshmi. I was expecting the sad childhood of Malik- the 7 or 8 year old hustler but not the beauty of the rituals, the intricate of the henna, the deliciousness of the food- I can’t wait to have the time to make the Rabri. I loved learning more about the caste system, the Ayurvedic traditions…everything about this book book was just so well done… I’m SO looking forward to the sequel!!!
